Data Foundation for Success

When pain becomes a constant companion during physical activities, it’s worth taking a closer look at the musculoskeletal system. Our in-depth running and gait analysis is the first step toward better body awareness. Using different techniques, we capture all relevant parameters that serve as a basis for therapeutic measures or tailored orthopedic solutions.

Details of Our Running and Gait Analysis

The approximately 60-minute analysis procedure at NUMO begins on the mirrored table, where we assess the feet as well as the knee, hip, and leg axes statically. This is followed by a video analysis on the treadmill to examine the dynamic rolling behavior of the foot during walking and jogging, as well as the mechanical power transmission over the knees, hips, and pelvis. Additionally, we measure pressure distribution across the entire foot.

We review the evaluations together in a personal consultation and decide on the next steps. The data then serves as the foundation for the production of everyday or sports insoles.

Running Analysis on the Sprint Track

If needed, our Conica indoor sprint track is used. It features an authentic tartan track construction and can also be used with spiked or cleated shoes. The only difference is the integrated biomechanical measurement systems: In addition to high-speed and infrared cameras, pressure sensors, and force plates, the track is equipped with a speed laser and stride length detector. This allows us not only to analyze running techniques but also to identify gait asymmetries or material weaknesses.

High-Tech Facility at NUMO Dietikon

Our indoor sprint track is the heart of NUMO’s headquarters in Dietikon. The integrated measurement systems provide extensive data, which can be analyzed and visualized next door in one of the four labs.

The running and gait analysis at NUMO in Dietikon includes the following:

– Static assessment of feet, knees, hips, and spine axes on the mirrored table
– Video analysis on the treadmill to assess the dynamic rolling behavior of the foot and the mechanical power transmission to the knees, hips, and pelvis while walking or jogging
– Verbal explanation of the video images, including a copy for you
– Measurement of dynamic pressure distribution using RSscan Footscan®

On our NUMO indoor sprint track, biomechanical measurements can be performed under real conditions. We analyze running styles barefoot, with running shoes, spiked shoes, or football shoes. Original starting blocks and hurdles can also be used on the track.
